Sunday's Breakfast: Baked Oatmeal

http://allrecipes.com/Recipe/Baked-Oatmeal-II/Detail.aspx

I made changes though. I increased the cinnamon to a tablespoon, added a chopped apple, 1/2 cup of sliced almonds, and I used oil instead of melted butter. I would also add another egg, maybe two to get it to "stick" better if you add the extra stuff.

My take: Awesome. Loved it! I thought about the leftovers in my fridge several times a day. When I initially took it out of the pan, I thought it smelled like a cobbler and should be served with vanilla ice cream.

Trav: It's weird. It tastes good, but I would like to reserve the right to serve it with the ice cream Jen mentioned. I would eat it again, but I would not ask for it.

Alton: Ate his bowl and part of Trav's after having eaten his morning sausage. I am guessing he liked it.

The final result: I will be making it again, but tweaking it by trying new flavors and adding more eggs.

I made it

We made it to church today despite leaving home when it started and both of us feeling like poo.

I signed up for the Women's Retreat thinking it was in two weeks only to find out that it is in fact a a week away and coinciding with a set of Disneyland secret shops....

The house is slowly returning to normal. I am hoping it will be clean again by Wednesday.

Junior High Trauma

OMG. 6th grade was hell. I was clumsy and awkward and the only student who didn't have a personal trainer for each sport we were required to play in PE. The one time I managed to hit the soft ball, I hopped up and down and celebrated and didn't notice in my excitement that I had actually HIT THE PITCHER in the nose with the softball. It was a bad bad year for the rest of the year after that happened. The girl I hit was gracious and got over it, but one more than one occasion I was cornered in the girl's restroom by other members of her posse....

Thankfully in 7th and 8th grade, I had a kind and sensitive PE teacher who understood and just let me walk laps during PE. No more basketball or softball trauma for me!
